Are you watching, Roy?

Bracknell MP, Dr Phillip Lee, made a late bid to catch the eye of England football coach Roy Hodgson at the weekend whist attending the St Margaret Clitherow Summer Fayre in Hanworth.

The Fayre, which helped to celebrate the school’s 40th birthday, included a range of stalls as well as performances from the pupils and the award-winning singer Liberty.

However, Dr Lee, who played his first competitive football match in Bracknell representing the Wycombe Schools Under 11s nearly 40 years ago, made a bee-line for the football shooting stall. Unfortunately, he failed to score any points with his four shots and so went on to console himself with a piece of W-Z cake at the Taste of Poland stand.

Dr Lee said, “I was delighted to open the Fayre on this special anniversary and applaud all the hard work put in by the organisers.  The cake was wonderful and I was delighted to meet Karolina, its creator, although the recipe unfortunately remains a secret.

“It looks like I need to get back into training and take some shooting practice.  Could someone let Jamie Vardy know his place is safe…for now!”
