Bracknell shortlisted for Town of the Year

Posted: Apr 18, 2017

Bracknell is shortlisted in the Town of the Year category as part of the Thames Valley Property Awards. Our Conservative led Borough Council has delivered on its key manifesto commitment to deliver a new town centre which will open on 7 September.

Conservative Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration said: “It’s great news and a real boost that Bracknell has again been shortlisted in the Thames Valley Property Awards for Town of the Year. Last year the judges agreed with us that Bracknell was the best town in the Thames Valley to live, work and do business. I’m delighted they still think Bracknell is up and coming, especially as we’re heading into a very exciting chapter in the town’s history with The Lexicon opening this autumn, complementing more than £500m worth of other investment in the town.”

The Lexicon is one of the largest regeneration schemes currently being built in the UK. 3,500 new jobs will be created in the new Lexicon town centre which will provide 580,000 sq ft of new retail, dining space and public squares, creating a new vibrant centre for the town.

In the Town of the Year category, judges are looking for a Thames Valley town and its management team that has implemented a successful town centre strategy and has enhanced the town over a period of time. The shortlisting in this year’s 2017 awards follows on from last year’s success when Bracknell scooped the prestigious gong at the 2016 ceremony. The winner of the Town of the Year category will be announced on 11 May 2017.
