Budget 2017

Posted: Mar 8, 2017

Chancellor Philip Hammond presented a Budget for the United Kingdom that helps us make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.

It’s a budget that keeps our economy strong as we begin to leave the EU, by continuing to control public spending.

It gives people the skills they need to succeed, by investing an extra £500 million on our 16-19 year olds – the most ambitious post-16 education reforms in 70 years.

It supports ordinary working families, with funding for a further 110 new free schools so that an excellent education is in reach for every child and every parent.

It gives parents more support with childcare, with a new tax-free childcare policy that is worth up to £2,000 for every child up to the age of 12.

And it provides help and support to our NHS and social care system, with an extra £2 billion to social care in England over the next three years.

As we look ahead to our negotiation with the EU, this Budget prepares Britain for a stronger, fairer future. A future that we will work towards, together.
