Delivering more with less

Only the Conservatives can provide good financial management. Everything we do is costed and planned carefully. If we borrow, it is against our known income. We keep some money in reserve, for those unexpected events.

In 2015/16 the council has budgeted to spend £83.2m.

The main areas of spend are:

  • Learning disability support £13.4m
  • Older people and adults with disability £10.0m
  • Looked after children £6.3m
  • Waste disposal £6.3m
  • Recreation, sport and leisure £3.0m
  • Open spaces £2.5m
  • Mental Health support £2.3m
  • Children and families support £3.3m
  • Libraries £2.3m (We have invested in our libraries not closed them)

We give a lot of community grants which include:

  • Citizens Advice Bureau £186,000
  • Involve (formerly BFVA) £141,000
  • Homestart £61,000
  • Bracknell Shopmobility £33,000
  • Victim Support £17,000

Spending for schools

  • Primary schools £39.3m
  • Secondary schools £33.5m
  • Special schools £14.7m

Local Conservatives are keen to learn what you think the most pressing local issues are and what you think the borough council’s top three priorities should be. Your input will help us set the council’s priorities for the next four years.
