Borough (Great Hollands North)
Like many in Great Hollands North I am new to Bracknell but have quickly made it my home. I have discovered how welcoming the local community are and how much Bracknell has to offer its residents. Prior to living in Bracknell I lived and worked across the country including in Manchester and London so I have, like many, been able to compare what we have here. Bracknell’s green space, thriving economy and fantastic local services are why I believe it is one of the best places to live in the country.
I am standing in these local elections for a number of reasons. One of which is to allow others to utilise my skills as a communicator to help them with problems and issues.
Despite coming from a working class Lancashire family that was hit hard by the decline of the cotton industry I was fortunate to have a good school nearby. I now teach in a London University business school.
Having gained so much from my own education I am deeply passionate about improving the lives of others through education and training. That’s not just young people, because we must all be prepared for change at any age, so having good adult learning close at hand is also important.
As an economist I am also fully aware of the financial challenges faced by local and national government and everyone in the ward. I therefore hope to use my expertise to support the delivery of value for money across local services while minimising future rises in council tax.
When not working or campaigning I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading and walking.
