Family friendly festival comes to Dinton Pastures next weekend

Posted: Jul 16, 2016

People will be heading to Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst next weekend to enjoy the delights of the family-friendly Marvellous – The Tribute Festival taking place from Friday (July 22) evening until Sunday (July 24).

The event features a variety of world class tribute artists playing music inspired by Ed Sheeran, T-Rex, Bruno Mars, AC/DC, Queen, Adele, Johnny Cash, Coldplay and Rod Stewart. There is also a special guest appearance of Ray Quinn as well as a funfair, big kid’s village, food and drink stalls, a Napoleonic re-enactment and a Spitfire fly-past.

Cllr Parry Batth, deputy executive member for environment, said: “Following the Dinton Pastures consultation* last year, residents told us they would like to see the country park used to host different types of events so that’s exactly what we’re trialling with the Marvellous Festival.

“I hope lots of Wokingham Borough residents thoroughly enjoy all the different music and events taking place at the family friendly Marvellous Festival and have lots of fun!”

Steve Stanton, Marvellous Festival director, said: “We can’t wait to bring the Marvellous Festival to Dinton Pastures next weekend and I hope everyone attending has a fantastic time. We’ve got lots of different types of music being performed on two stages as well as a big kid’s village so I’m sure there will be something for everyone.”

Some of those camping at the festival will be arriving on Friday (July 22) evening and have the opportunity to attend a welcome party.  The majority of people will arrive on Saturday (July 23) and Sunday (July 24) with live performances scheduled to start at 1.30pm (car park opens at 10am) and finish at approximately 11pm on both days.

As the car park opens early the council hopes people will stagger their arrival time. It is also encouraging people to set off early and allow plenty of time as the roads around the country park, in particular around Winnersh and Twyford, are likely to be busier than normal.

Those attending are also being reminded that the festival entrance for those using the car park is via Sandford Lane (not Davis Street) and should access the road either via Robinhood Lane (Winnersh) or Hurst Road (Twyford). Other frequently asked questions regarding the festival can also be found online at: www.marvellousfestivals.com/faq.

Tickets for the festival are still available and can be purchased in advance online at: www.marvellousfestivals.com/tickets. There may be a limited number of tickets available on the day but anyone interested in going should buy them in advance to avoid disappointment.
