Our councillors are developing a new way of delivering the borough’s library service. Despite financial pressures, all nine libraries will be kept open and the opening hours in some libraries will even be extended.
This new transformation programme is the culmination of a nine month review process. New technology, such as self-service kiosks and technology assisted opening, will be installed across all libraries and services will be provided by experienced library staff, supported by trained volunteers.
The proposals were agreed following a thorough review over the past nine months. This included consultation with residents to understand how the library service can continue to reflect community needs while providing significant savings and efficiencies.
Volunteers will be the key to maintaining the full network of nine libraries. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer in a borough library, please email: [email protected] and find out how you can get involved.
