Organised by Finchampstead Branches
Our special guest this evening is Tom Tugendhat MBE – The member of Parliament for Tonbridge, Edenbridge and Malling
Tom entered the House of Commons in 2015, following a distinguished career in the British Army, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and most recently, as the military assistant to the Chief of the Defense Staff.
As a TA Officer he has established the Armed Forces Muslim Association and has worked for the Foreign Office setting up the National Security Council of Afghanistan and the Government in Helmand. He has not always been a military man, having read Theology at University and has had great experience working with the homeless. Tom then studied for a master’s degree at Cambridge in Islamics. Another turn of career saw him as a journalist in Beirut, writing about politics and economics of the area and the obvious conflict seeing at first hand the threat of radicalism and the rise of Al Qaeda.
A rising star in the Conservative Party, who has experience in business, military life and with a social conscience (he is at present working on dementia issues), this should be a VERY interesting evening!
